A prominent former Whitbread pub on the A57 between Glossop and Mottram, that has been closed and decaying for at least fifteen years.

  1. This is Spread Eagle isn't it? Played pool here circa 1997. Across the road was the Woolley Bridge Inn, closed around '95, now a private house.

  2. You're quite right - I misremembered that one. It has certainly been closed and derelict for a very long time.

  4. My Grandparents May and Arthur Cunliffe, ran the Spread Eagle in the late 70's, I have so many happy memories of this pub, visiting at the weekend, sneaking in to the Silver Band rehearsal room to play on the instruments! Breaks my heart to see it left derelict like this.
